BHAGIRATHI ARYA KANYA INTER COLLEGE

INTRODUCTION

The girl's govt school established in 1913  has completed a gigantic period of 100 years. The school aims at making the girls of rural and poor families educated and complete their inter-college degree thereby making them independent and confident citizens. The school clearly follows the norms of Arya Samaj established by Swami Dayanand Saraswati. The principles of Swami Vivekananda are also chanted regularly during morning assembly and the school very much abides by them. 

FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATION

With a staff of around 50 teachers, the school administration ensures that each faculty members delivers her duty earnestly. The discipline here makes one spellbound. The girls are taught not only as per the syllabus but also about the life that they will be facing afterwards. On asking about the kind of education get here the principal Mrs. Lata Sagar quips "the girls in our school learn each and everything from the school so it becomes our duty to act as their guardians and teachers at all times." 

The administrative department boasts of not more than 15 members who manage accounts, fees, time-tables, interviews, admissions and every other administrative responsibilities. 

ACADEMICS AND AFFILIATION

The school is affiliated to the very well known UP Board that is cleary one of the toughest board of education in India. The school strictly follows the guidelines of UP Board at primary, secondary and senior secondary levels.

The senior secondary school provides a degree in Arts only, though the choices of subjects in Arts vary. The school is not equipped with staff and facilities to introduce science and commerce in their inclusive courses. 

CHALLENGES 

On speaking to various faculty members it was observed that the school is facing a crisis of government funds to ensure better education and to introduce a variety of other subjects. Though the computer lab is present in the school but not even 20% of the girls can manage to operate the systems. Also, lot is required to be done to improve the infrastructure of the school. 

The staff of this school is doing applausible work towards transforming the girls of the poor families into strong and independent citizens and are constantly motivating them to pursue their studies after 10+2. Holding a graduate degree is sadly only a dream for  many!!

The school stands sound in the Lal Kurti area of meerut city in Uttar Pradesh.
